Bare metal server and network activity

  • We've redesigned Edge Service Manager to make it easier to view network and server provisioning successes and failures, view log data for servers and networks, and download a report of the activity to your computer.

Been awhile since you've signed in? Here are the additional changes we've made to Edge Bare Metal recently.

September 2023

Bare metal servers

  • You can now provision a new server configuration at many Edge Bare Metal locations with the following specifications:

    • 32 cores, 256 GB RAM, 2400 GB SSD
    • Dual Intel Xeon Gold 6226R Processor 2-.9GHz, 16C/32T, DDR4-2933, 150W CPU
    • Memory – 256GB Total - 32GB DDR4 2933 VLP RDIM MTA18ADF4G72PZ-2G9 SR
    • x4 16Gb
      • 1x 480GB NVME SSD - 480GB 1DWPD M.2 80mm NVME SSD
      • 2x 1TB NVME SSD - 1TB 1DWPD 2.5" U.2 15mm PCIe NVME SSD
      • 2x10Gbps connected

  • You can now bring your own license for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (7.9 & 8.5). You can provision the server with RHEL installed with 30 days to add your license key.

  • You are now able to provision servers in many new locations.

  • You are no longer able to provision a server with Ubuntu 18.04.
  • You are now able to provision a server with Ubuntu 22.04 installed.

November 2022

Bare metal servers

  • You can provision a bare metal server in Lumen® Edge Service Manager with Rocky Linux version 8.6 as an option. You can choose from the CentOS 7.9, Rocky Linux 8.6, and Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 options.
  • You can build Edge Bare Metal servers faster. We reduced the average build time to a third of the original build time. This updated build process increases build stability as the network continues to grow.

June 2022

Bare metal server networks

  • You can now provision a network in the Catalog section of the Edge Service Manager. This combines additional functionality with a more modern look when provisioning bare metal networks.
  • You can now add multiple bare metal servers to a single network. This new functionality requires that you provision a network before you provision a bare metal server. 
  • You can now purchase larger IP blocks for bare metal networks. You can add a /29 block for no additional cost. Other IP blocks are available on a per IP block usage fee. Pricing is available within the Edge Service Manager.
